This Fintail Mercedes doesn’t run, but the seller only wants $500 for it. I’ve already got a call out to him.
I need another project car like I need a hole in my head, but a black heckflosse Mercedes with red interior is not something to be passed up easily.

this made me think about a 450 6.9 sel in horrendous state parked in an industrial complex just a couple of miles from where i live. haven’t seen it in a long time. i should’ve asked for a mega deal too.

I don’t see rust (those rear quarters love to dissolve in harsh climates), chrome looks OK, definitely worth it just for parts. You could break it up and easily get that twice that or more for the glass, lenses, and trim. If I was near it and had a place to store it, I would go for it.
I see it is a 220S, so no newer than 1965. What’s the story on it? Weird exhaust pipe.

All I know is it doesn’t run and the guy needs the space so he is gong to sell it or scrap it. I texted him saying if he has a title or old reg I’d take it.

Definitely looks way too good to scrap. Someone needs to save it, even if it becomes a parts car. These cars are fairly undervalued and just coming into their own - it would have been rescued in Europe ages ago.
